Percy Hubbard came to Sittingbourne from Essex in August 1893 aged 17 having just finished five years apprenticeship as a harness maker and saddler. He took a situation as a junior hand at £1 weekly and at 18 years and two months was made foreman.
Five years later he started his own business in what one then thought a trade that would last as long as Great Britain.
In 1961 he sat down to write his memories of Sittingbourne in days gone by as if on a journey through the town. They are here transcribed by his granddaughter, Mary.
Contains 75 pages
